The Air Force Marathon is scheduled to always take place the third Saturday of September at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. A two-day Health & Fitness Expo, Breakfast of Champions, Gourmet Pasta Dinner, 5K race, and Tailwind Trot 1K is scheduled to be held at Wright State University Nutter Center the Thursday and Friday prior to race day. All events are open to the public.

The mission of the Air Force Marathon is to provide world-class endurance events that promote health and fitness, to partner with the local community in bettering the environment and economy, and to commemorate the founding of the United States Air Force. The Air Force Marathon features U.S. Air Force aircraft flyovers and a finish line flanked with vintage aircraft. The event maintains its uniqueness by having Air Force senior leadership present runners with a commemorative finisher medal as they cross the finish line.
