Meet the Team: Matthew Crooker
Hello everyone! My name is Matthew Crooker and I am the Operations Manager for the Air Force Marathon and the Space Force T-Minus 10-Miler. I started in August 2021, and I am the newest member of this wonderful team! I want to dedicate my career to public service, and there’s no better way than mixing running into it! The Air Force Marathon to me is an event where you can challenge yourself, and push yourself to reach new heights you never thought possible.
When I’m not working, you can usually find me running on the trails, training for an event, or watching the movie I was a part of, Becoming a Marathoner. My goal is to continue running races to keep the memory of my Dad alive, and in addition, run all 6 World Marathon Majors. I’m currently sitting at 2 (NYC 2019 and Chicago 2021). When I’m not running and training, I am spending time with my fiancé, Mackenzie, and her pup Clarence, a Newfoundland/Lab mix. I spend time with my Mom and her pup, Hudson, a German Shepherd/Lab/Husky mix, when I go back home to Cincinnati. When I am not doing any of the above, I like to spend time with friends, or watch history documentaries on the Cold War.
What is a piece of advice you’ve have been given that you want to pass on?
I would say a great piece of advice I have been given is that all good things take time. Success is not going to happen overnight, and everything will take hard work to accomplish the goals you set for yourself. I know I am going through that process in my professional career, and in my running journey. Most importantly, I remind myself that all the hard work I am currently putting into each facet of my life will pay off down the road.
